As you know, RIOT high school youth will be heading out to Mexico April 4th -10th. It is our desire that we give all youth an opportunity to experience God in this unique and stretching way. That being said, here is an opportunity to join us in our Mexico mission trip. We have a group of 12 students planning to go, 5 of which are still in need of sponsorship for this trip. We are asking for our church family to prayerfully consider giving these kids an opportunity to be used by God and grow in their relationship with Him. Whatever you can do to help would be great, whether it is a full or partial scholarship. The cost of the trip is $575 per student and the youth are currently working hard to fund raise a portion of their expenses for the trip. If you would like to help, please make checks payable to Adventure Christian Church of North Natomas. We will also be collecting a special offering in church prior to the trip. 

Another opportunity to help with the Mexico mission trip would be to save and collect used cell phones. The goal is to collect as many cell phones as we can to turn in to an organization called Cell Fund, the non profit division of Simply Mobile. They will in turn give us cash to recycle the cell phones we collect.  We will have a white box in the back of the church on Sundays. If you would like to donate any cell phones, chargers or electronic cellular equipment place them in the box and we will take care of the rest. 

I believe God is going to use Mexico to spark a flame in the hearts of our youth. Please continue to pray with us as we prepare to serve the people in Mexico. Thank you.

We join in your concern and prayers for Haiti.  Below is an update from our missionaries, Brice and Amanda Wurdeman, from Carmen Niehaus (principle of Sonlight School in Haiti), as well as our own Vaughn LeMoss’s update on World Vision’s aid to Haiti.

Wurdeman’s, Sonlight Faculty:  Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, we feel so loved by you.  It truly has meant so much to us and encourages us as well as equips us to be able to minister even more here.  We did feel the earthquake and continue to feel aftershocks, but we are about 100 miles away from where the main quake occurred.  Right now many of you are asking how you can help, at this moment we need prayers. If we hear of ways we can help, we will let you know.  We just don’t know of the extent of supplies like fuel and water even being able to get to us yet as some have asked, and right now priority is just praying for lives in Pap. 

Other than pictures falling in our place, no harm was done here.  This is not to say we are unaffected by the earthquake in other ways.  Everyone we know here has a loved one in the capital city.  As you have heard Port-au-Prince has lots of damage, most we don’t even know about yet.  Phones are down here and it is the only way for most people to get contact from their families in PaP.  So, we especially ask your prayers for the following people missing.  They are all loved ones of 7^th grade:  Youvenie, Mackendy, Jordan, Macken, Joel, Saint Juste, Marc, Neckelson, Fratise, Seny, Ben, Mme. Gera, Robinson, Andreana, Williene, Romel, Lea, Micky, Richard, Phrito, Richard, Ketia, Max, Geraldine, Jerry, Aseffi, Chontal, Stephaine, Yania, Kiki, LouLou, Edner, clarvio, Marco, Sonia, Frendy, Isrel, Roseline, Chantal, Robenson, Katia, Merlande, Nicole, Roberta, Tica, Beatrist, Christelle, Dany, Melissa, and Olny.

In 3^rd grade they are younger and did not know all of the names, so they are by student: Jefferson’s mom, Stanley’s aunts and cousins, Miss Edith’s aunt and cousin, Aisha’s 2 sisters, Thaina’s cousin Philan, Debbie’s cousin Danielle, Lud’s aunt, Trecy’s mom, Timothe’s uncle and cousin, Fedeline’s 2 brothers and aunt, Mike F.’s  cousin, Moses’ aunt, Vasthie’s aunt, Samuelle’s 2 cousins and aunt, Jemima’s grandma and cousins, Willens’ 2 cousins and uncle, Ted’s aunt, Pierre Bruna, Phana’s cousin, Samuel’s dad and brother, Berdjna’s 2 cousins, Kervens and his sisters, Mackioldie and his family, Dachecka’s brother, and the many others we don’t even know.

Carmen Niehaus, Principal of Sonlight School:  We are fine.  We have talked through e-mail to other missionaries in Port-Au-Prince and Gonaives and everyone we have heard from is fine. I’m sure when we find out more we’ll know more people who have experienced great loss.

Sonlight and all missionaries are fine. Our houses shook — I had that post-amusement ride feeling! SonCenter shook — the guys working inside ran out. But, God who is building that building for us held it together!

We were warned by UN workers of a possible tsunami.  Today it is cloudy and rainy.

Once again we have experienced mercy at the mighty hand of God. thanks for your continued prayers for us.

Vaughn LeMoss, West Coast Regional Director of World Vision:  We have 320 staff on the ground in Haiti and  are in full mobilization to help. Currently, it is in the assessment stage. Our offices are figuring best tactics and plans now.  Will update the church as I learn more.
